Raphael Elisha Psychology MProfPsych, BPsychSc(Hons)

I aim to have a very friendly, open and engaged approach to therapy. When you walk into the room, I want you to feel seen, heard and understood. I know it can be daunting opening up to a stranger, and I certainly don't take that level of trust or responsibility for granted.

I specialise in treating anxiety, depression, anger management, relationship issues, low self-esteem, personality disorders, panic disorder, ADHD and OCD. I currently see people aged 18 years and over.

My go-to framework is Schema Therapy, which is designed to address unmet, emotional needs, helping you break unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving, allowing you to access a healthier version of yourself.

I hold a Masters degree in Professional Psychology and a Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours.

When I'm not at work, I'm either entertaining my kids, picking up an old film camera, or wearing layers of unnecessary lycra on a road bike.
What To Expect
During our first session, I'll focus on you and your story. This is a get-to-know-you session, where I ask questions about the here and now, as well as details about your personal and family history. You'll likely find that you're doing most of the talking in this session. Depending on the complexity, this may flow into our second session together.

After this, we form a game plan and begin working on ways to help you with what you're going through.

Whilst some people expect change quickly (and that's possible) most of the time people need quite a few sessions to make any change stick. Keep in mind that you're trying to 'rewire' years of patterned thinking, which takes time, patience and practice. Think of it like exercising at the gym - the more you train, the better the results.

You'll also find that I check in every few sessions, just to make sure that we're on track. I always want you to be open and honest about what's working, what's not and what you'd like to do differently.
